M Sport Shift Knob

Has anyone tried to put the M sport shift knob in an FX?
I have one being sent to me as a speak.

I am installing the 2008 M45 Sport shift knob on my FX.
I have disassembled mine and I am positive it will work with one slight mod.

This is what the black leather knob looks like.

Thanks Jeff, I will take pics when I install it. I figure I might have to saw a slit on each side of the shift post to accomodate the retaining clip.(the old slots might not be exactly the same) But I still figure it will only be a 10-15 minute install :smile (2):

I prefer the new M56s sport shifter better. It has the flat stiching instead of the zig zag stiching on the one your putting on. I think the flat stitching matches more since that's they way our doors, seats, and steering wheel are stictched:

And if you noticed something in the picture of the old M sport shifter that you posted is that when you install it, the shifter will sit higher up than stock. It looks kind of wierd.

what great timing for my post let me know how it works out gee.. btw where did your purchase your knob
I friend of mine ordered it for his 2nd Gen G35, but now he is selling the car so he removed it and is giving it to me. He is shipping it to me (he lives on the East coast.)

There is the RAZO automatic and the Moma automatic unit. I really like the M56 knob Fireonic posted above but has it been tested on the FX? Wayne have you mounted up your M45 shifter?

No I haven't Lance. I have been out of town for the last 2 weeks with my wife in the Hospital. She had some very serious surgery. Once she recuperates and the weather improves I will put it on. I think it looks better now that it has been used on my buddies G35 Sedan, the pic I posted earlier was when it was brand new. It will fit, I'm sure, my friend had it on his 07 Sedan, and I took my shift knob off and it looked the same.
