First off i own a 04 fx35 been pushing to change my oil cooler ring becuase their was a leak, so i did it this weekend. Drained the oil their was only 2 quarts in their! Shouldnt my low oil light have come on? well it didnt i been driving like that since june when infiniti told me i needed to change my oil cooler ring after they did my oil change but i didnt want to go thru dealer cuz to expensive but postponed to fix. Well i fixed it but the new ring was black, bigger in circumference and thinner in size but fit in after pushing in. The 22 mm socket for the thing that holds the oil filter was loose like i can turn it with my hand i dont know if that was infiniti or loosened from oil pressure but i torqued done. Anyways all done let it run for 20 minutes no new leakes i didnt put any gasket maker cuz infiniti said not to. i just measured 5 quarts with a measured funnet cause its so hard to get a good reading on dipstick. Any thoughts on low oil or anything else let me know thanks in advance guys.

I check my oil level at least once a month SOP. Also many members here were changing the oil cooler o ring at every oil change due to leaks.I used a non hardening gasket eliminator sealant and lightly coated the o ring, have had no leaks ever since. I think their concern about using sealants may be if the sealant used were of a hardening type then service of the o ring would be difficult or if excessive sealant were used there may be a possibility of creating a blockage. If yours doesn't leak again great but if you find yourself repeating this repair I would recommend a light coat of Non Hardening gasket eliminator.

Guess that would depend on how hard and how long it was driven, also I think when the oil is drained about a quart is still left in engine so you may have had 3 quarts in engine. I usually jack up the opposite side of drain plug just to get more old oil out.
Was it synthetic oil? If so synthetic would hold up better to the abuse as well. If your not hearing any new sounds you'll probably be fine. If your worried about it though you could always send an oil sample out for analyses next oil change.

REALLY!!?!?!?!? theirs a quart still in their i let it drain for 20 mins not jacked up! I just measured with a measuring cup 5 quarts and capped it becuase its so hard to read our dipsticks so that means i have 6 quarts in their now? Oil is non synthetic.

Just let the engine sit after running for 30 min to allow oil to settle then check dipstick you should be fine.

Also I would switch to Mobil 1 or penzoil ultra synthetic 5w/30w oil on next change. How many miles are you going between oil changes now?

I may have overstated how much oil is left after draining I wouldn't worry about it just check your dip stick.

On non synthetics I always went around 3000 miles and on synthetics I usually try to do it at 5000 but if I don't get around to it Till 8000 I still feel comfortable doing it then with synthetics.
