Low fuel signal problem

Whenever the low fuel signal comes up, it shows about 55km remains. But I have noticed it goes down VERY quickly. For example, I would be driving about about 2 km, and the estimate km remains would go from 51km to 35km. Just wonder if it's normal? And usually how long can I drive when the low fuel light shows up.

I have 2010 FX35 in Canada.
 
Honestly, the "mpg left" on the screen is somewhat inaccurate. It tells how many future miles you have left in the tank, which means it PREDICTS. It doesn't say how many gallons are left in the tank.

In my FX35, the warning light comes on when I have "40 miles left." I drive at a constant 20.0-20.3mpg, so that means I have about 2 gallons in my tank. But once I know I've driven about 20 miles after the light shows, I go to the nearest gas station.
 
When it shows that the computer is estimating based on your driving. The harder u press the gas the more fuel u use. If u feather it until u get to the gas station u should be good. When u see ** in the ekm till empty, that's when u should be worried.

Yes! That's exactly what i saw. When low fuel signal shows, it was like at 55km, and I drove around 3km, and it shows ***. Makes me wonder if mine has problem or this is normal.
