I am in the process of buying a 2011 FX35 AWD, with the Premium and Tech package.
Does anyone know what the dealer invoice is. On AOL Autos, it states it should be around 49K, is that reliable? TIA
Don't forget dealer invoice has likely gone up due to all the mess in Japan...
Thanks for all the replies. Yes I am playing the game of Internet Price Hunting. I have about 5 dealers within 50 miles that are willing to quote me a price and want my business. 2 to 3 are around 49K with the three packages, Premium, Tech, Deluxe Touring. Now that I have what I think is a good price, I want to lease it at that price. So what I was thinking was working backwards from 49K to figure out 39 mos lease and residual value. I plan on purchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease. I know everything is negotiable, but am I being too optimistic that they will give me the best price and let me lease it at it. Also, i have two friends that work at companies on the VPP list, i have not talked to them, but what I saw on the VPP site was about a $2K discount, which seems to be already factored in the 49k price i have recieved from a few dealers. I noticed on some sites that the VPP prices seemed to be better, but not sure if that was with the same packages.
Also, now that its close to Memorial Day, I was thinking of waiting until that weekend to go down and make them the offer hoping the slow period will entice them to the price I want. TIA
I paid 45k + tax with VPP pricing...Premium + touring package
Thats a good deal , was that the employee or friend price. TIA

Just curious - if you are planning to purchase the car at the end of the lease, then why wouldn't you just bite the bullet and purchase rather than lease right from the start? If downpayment or out of pocket is the issue, then put down as much as you reasonably can and just extend the loan as far out as possible (eg, 60 months) to get the payment down. a bit
I would either lease or buy it outright, no loan. The reason i am leaning towards leasing is what I can earn on my money during the lease period, but still have the choice at the end of the lease.
would you know how much more it usually cost to lease and buy, then just buy outright?
Yes it does. Thanks.Even when you lease you have to come to an agreement on what the price of the car is. Most dealers if not all of them know that if you want to lease then you want a small payment, which means they just work you on payment. Knowing that, dealers either talk you into doing a longer lease term or change the money factor etc to lower the payment instead of the price of the car. The residuals are set from the manufacturer and change from month to month. The higher the residual the lower your payment because you are borrowing a lesser amount of money. Or rather lesser depreciating amount, in addtion to the rent charge of that money.
Hope that somehow helps you.
