Hi,

I am looking to buy 08 FX35 with 68K miles, car has new battery and new engine drive belt. The private owner is asking for 16,200. Is there anything to look out specifically while purchasing the car? is the 08 a good year reliability wise?

This is my 2nd car to my Q5 and will be the daily driver to work (12 miles a day).

Thanks!

From what I understand, although its not really talked about much, later model cars in 07 and 08 had very minor valve changes and internal changes which made the cars more reliable.

The guy that worked on my engine said it is one of the reasons less 2008 models have the leaking valve cover gasket issue, and tend to burn less oil.

Overall you won't do any worse than the other years for reliability and chances are good you might do much better.

Our 08 FX RWD w/Touring is at about 74.4k miles now. Aside from aging material, we consider this our most reliable car to date (next to my 88 Firebird with nearly 300k miles). We've only been stranded twice with the FX (last December and last month), which was due to a 2-3 year old OEM battery intermittently failing so I ended up replacing with an optima yellow top. Minor issues we've seen were the driver-side sun visor clip breaking (for a second time within the same year), chrome slightly peeling off the Infiniti logo on the center wheel caps, headlights hazing, and the dash bubbling which was replaced under warranty, and two TPMS sensors have gone bad. I haven't seen any leaks/smoke/engine/tranmission/electrical issues at all. I love the fact that there still aren't any safety recalls since my Wife and Kids ride use it every day.

If it looks like the previous owner took care and maintained it, you shouldn't have any problems.

01/2008 FX35 over here, 136500 miles on it without any major problem. Very strong and reliable drivetrain!

thanks folks!

Ideally I like the 09 better, but you are adding another 5k to the budget. Since this is not my primary family car, I cant justify that. Ive noticed SUV prices have increased in the last few months as oil has tanked. It is really hard to find good deals, let alone have a dealer negotiate.

how long did it take drivers to adjust to the blindspots on this car?

I am going tonight to dealer to review and pickup
