local Dallas hotspots

hmm.. can always go for a good burger. I think i've only been to deep ellum once. May have to check out that burger joint. Been to tokyo one many times. we have one in houston now too.

I'm liking these options more and more. Thanks guys!

Twin Peaks eh? I'll bring it up with my b-i-l and see if he wants to go there for lunch or something. Not sure my wife nor his would enjoy it there too much... lol!

Haha, I understand. My g/f actually enjoys it because their food is quite good (I also might recommend the Philly Cheesesteak here, but certainly not for the faint at heart).

there is a twisted root in richardson. 75 & campbell. bluefish sushi is descent, la duni in uptown has great desserts, wild about harry's hot dogs and homemade ice cream are good. anything on knox/henderson.. porch, cuba libre, fireside pies, tei teis, i'm having a brain fart, but if i think of anything else i'll pop back on. there are so many places.

lol wow.. that is alot. sounds like i'll have to try one or two places each time im in town. Not sure where knox/henderson is. havent heard of those streets before, I dont think.

tei teis... what kind of place is that? dumpling house?

knox/henderson is about 2 miles south down 75 from Ozona. Basically, if you go west you're on Knox, and go east, you're on Henderson.

eh, wife says she know where knox/henderson is.

Sounds like for sure im gonna have to visit Ozona and Twisted Root. and the fact the Twisted Root has "buckets of bottle beer at cheap ass prices" is a plus!

I'm not from Dallas but my wife used to work there and we have friend that live there.

We always go to this place when we're in town. http://www.laduni.com/

Great service and awesome food. You have to get their chocolate shake and the rest of their desserts are very good!

la duni seems nice. maybe too nice. dunno if I'd feel comfortable bringing our 7 mo. old there. maybe if we can leave her with the grandparents...

Alright, just left ozona grill. Pretty cool place. Had the chicken fried steak. Actually, everyone but my wife had the chicken fried steak. It was definitely good. Only thing I would change would be less salt in the gravy, but if you push some of the gravy off, its perfect. Definitely one of the best chicken fried steaks ilve had. Thanks for the suggestion stu! I think sunday I'll hit up twisted root.

Glad everyone enjoyed it!
I had one in some small mountain town in Arizona, and it was the biggest one I've ever had. Ate all of it, too. It was like Ozona's, but two of them, or maybe one and a half.

we went to twisted root last night. it wa really good. I wanted to try the ostrich and the wife wanted the alligator burger. but all they had was buffalo and venison. So that was a little disappointing, but the burgers were good nontheless. I had the venison and wife had the mushroom swiss. the venison was really good. and so were the beer! hehehe. had a bucket of 3 Shiner, 1 Firemans 4, and 1 St. Arnold Lawnmower for $15. Texas beer is so good
