Lift Gate will not open

My liftgate will not open! :confused:I've tried the manual override. The actuator makes a noise and the gate opens maybe an inch! I can't remove any trim because the gate needs to be open to do so. I've tried brute force and tried to tinker with the mechanism from the small opening for the override with no luck. A user [jungy4] posted the same issue back in 2016 prior to heading to the dealer but I see no conclusion. I think I'm on the same path unfortunately unless anyone here has something brilliant to suggest? o_O

I wish you luck, just dealt with similar issue on an albeit older 04 fx35. sounded like it was working etc, but no dice. Manila override wouldn't work and I couldn't get the interior off when shut. so goddamn frustrating. was picking at it with a screwdriver through the hole, sprayed a bunch of wd40 and got in the trunk using the lever while having my girlfriend outside hitting the button on the trunk. IDK what did it but a combination of kicking from inside, and both of us trying the inside and outside switch (electronic and manual override) the door opened. I took the plastic off and it stayed off for a bit. got it to shut, but it wouldn't actuate in tightly, so it made a rattle as I drove and when it was in the out position the "door open" light would ding and come on and off.
It then wouldn't open again and I had to mess with it again with a screwdriver.

finally noticed a small electronic tab peice that was partially broken, likely just due to age.
my advice for when you finally get it open, buy the right replacement actuator from the get go. I tried to get one off amazon but it didn't fully work with the electronic system. I got the correct one off parts geek. it was more money but I wasted a good amount of time not doing it right the first time

look at the picture on eBay at this link
the turquoise color piece is an electronic tab of some sort that presses a small switch. that is what broke and locked mine up. with a flashlight and pick or screwdriver you may be able to manually depress it and see if that helps.
dont buy one from amazon, it didn't work correct. either buy used OEM or bite the bullet and buy new OEM. I bought a new one because I plan on having the vehicle til it dies on me, and I dont wish to take it apart again. part found on parts geek iirc. 360ish bucks where amazon was under 200. buy once cry once I suppose. there is another blueish tab you can't see in that pic, and is the one that broke for me.
