Lets bring up the zex nitrous again.

my friend is running a 50 shot of zex in his 350z on stock internals and has close to 100k on his car. he does have bigger fuel injectors and was tuned. I have read the old threads about nitrous but everyone gave up or never talked/updated anything on it. would a 50-75 shot be to much for our motors? im just thinking of some cheap ways to get a few extra horses that can be removed when i sell the car.

Agreed. 150 shot would be fine for the 1st gen FX but it all comes down to the TUNE. If you find an experienced tuner that can set up a nitrous kit and tune your motor with UpRev Osiris, pull the trigger brother!

There are a lot of controls out there for Nitrous. You can push a button - classic style...or you can set limit switches and program the system, example: only when WOT, 3rd gear, etc.

There is also direct port injection and manifold injection... wet vs dry Nitrous... it's not simple stuff. Definitely do your research but starting with somebody that actually has a system is a good place to start. Talk to him all about it if you can. In general, the more you spend, the more "safety" the system includes to protect your motor longer term.

I was looking into this for the 50

You're totally fine with a 50-75, or even a 100 without too much extra stuff provided it's set up correctly. If the ZEX is a wet kit (can't remember if it is or not, then the fuel is already provided). You wouldn't need bigger injectors and to be honest if you're at the point of getting bigger injectors because you're spraying so much nitrous, then you might as well have gone the forced induction route. If you really want to get serious, you can of course get progressive controllers and all that stuff which would allow you to run more nitrous than otherwise. A progressive controller would increase the nitrous as rpm goes up (a 100 shot at 6000 rpm is the same amount of nitrous per cycle as a 50 shot at 3000 rpm). But once you start adding progressive controllers, knock sensors and all that, the cost goes way up. So maybe just stick with the 50 shot.

I used to have a Nitrous Express wet kit on my VQ30 Maxima to help spool the turbo on launch. It was only jetted to 35 hp, but the nitrous and fuel cooled the intake air so it dyno'd a bit more than that. This was a while back so it was simple, just window switch so that it activated at full throttle and 3K rpm. I hardly ever used it, but it was fun. Keep in mind that nitrous is expensive.

OKay so did some research and had called ettuning which is located in union missouri. the only shop that will touch a vq/vk and uses uprev osiris. If I used a zex wet kit 100-125 shot I would NOT need increased fuel and more cc's would actually give you more headache on tuning and safety. but they did say the motor would be able to handle 100-125 easy with a good tune. I did not get a price as I dont want to lead him on and I would like to wait untill i get the CAI,lightweight pulley, e-fan conversion, invidia exhaust done. ill keep you guys updated

What if im running a Vortech supercharger kit? Can the stock motor still handle a 100 shot?

Probably not - stock internals are good for 400 - 450whp. You can reach that power level on the Vortech alone, so you wouldn't want the Nitrous... till after you build the internals.

Here in Houston, there is a Vortech supercharged FX35 with water/meth injection. He has a built motor and I believe is putting down 500+whp along with the Speed Force Racing built AT (good for 600+whp).

I'm actually very interested in how this works out for either a VK or a VQ. It all comes down to the tune. It's something I could add in the future if I upgrade my transmission.

Im still shuffling thru my head fx35 or fx45? If I do decide to keep my 45 I will def to the wet kit with some bolt on and shift kit and have it tuned right. and I will def keep you guys updated on anything I decide. right now im waiting on logan to get his cams installed to see the amount of power he gets and if I like it I might even do that too.

Hey brad!
Yea kinda forgot about the limitations of the stock internals ... the supercharged FX is chinke82's right?? Yea i think he is the first to run a water/meth kit ... my tuner keeps trying to pressure me to run a water meth kit  ... but still not sure if a low boost is worth a water meth kit .... anyways i will consider the nitrous injection once i get enough money to build my internals:tup::tup:
