my exhaust pipe is leaking where one of those joints are in the rear section right before where the "exhaust tank??" is.
It's due to the rust and I can see the carbon build up right at the joint so thinking it's rusted all the way through.
Other parts of the exhaust piping seem to be okay... my question is: can I get a muffler shop cut that rusted joint out and weld with a new piece of pipe in that place? Also how much am I looking at if it can be done. thank you!

most muffler shops can do that for you but pricing is different anywhere you go. A shop cut out and welded in a piece about 7" on my brothers maxima for about $60.

Sure, if the leak is at joint between the muffler and mid pipe, they may just cut away the flange (joint) and put a piece of pipe and weld them together. In my area, I think I can get that done around $60 - $80.

Don't let them over charge you. I went to a local shop and he told me $120. It was max a $100 to extend the tips and I went tp a diff shop which charged me $50.

they usually put a pipe, or one of those flex kind of pipes. Its not too big of a job, it will be much cheaper if u take of the mid pipe and muffler and take it in.
