LCD screen very dim, especially when cold

My LCD display screen on my 09 FX50 is quite dim when using NAV or the back-up camera. I have the brightness control set to max but it is dimmer than I would like. I was wondering if there may be an aftermarket alternative to the OEM screen. Technology has advanced significantly in the almost 10 years since this car was built so there should be something available.

I just added an iPad Air as my multimedia source... got some magnets and viola... sits right in front of that outdated Orem screen
 
Is it just an IPad, or were you somehow able to link it to the car’s original system so all functions are available?
 
Its just an iPad.. I have two sources... either the plug from the center concole or a Bluetooth usd adapter...
If from the center console, I can control It from then steering wheel or via the adapter from the iPad

Thanks for the update. I can't even get my IPod connector to work properly. It just says "IPOD NOT CONNECTED". I am mainly looking to just upgrade the monitor.

That Rhino radio looks pretty cool. Not sure if I want to go that hi-tech though.
