KYB with stock springs

Hey guys,

I just picked up an 07 FX35 and one of my first mods will be suspension. I have about 30K miles and have decided not to lower it. The car is for my wife and would prefer not to modify it's exterior appearance.

My question is if I can use the stock springs with the KYB struts? Also, I want to improve the ride greatly. It's currently pretty harsh and I definitely want to smooth it out. I don't want it stiffer or bouncier by any means. It's already doing that...haha. I'm used to that plush Cadillac feel.

Also, is there springs out there besides H&R, Eibach, or stocks that won't lower the car?

And yes I did a search and almost posted in the KYB group buy...

Thanks!

you probably got the sport springs which is pretty stiff compared to the stock springs that arnt sport.

i got stock springs that arnt sport for sale also =]

about 15-20k miles on em

Assuming that you have the sport package, the single greatest factor for me in ride comfort was getting rid of the OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A's. Even moving up to a 21" rim was MUCH more comfortable with a different tire.

Sorry about that....Yes, it is the Sport package. 20" wheels

I was just thinking....

Would it be possible to replace the OEM Sport springs with the Non-sports springs (the one's without the sport package)??? And, throw on the KYB's??

Wait, NOT considering higher quality lowering springs? Talk about counter culture :) Better ride, better control, better look......

No worries, if its your wife's ride you need to give her what she wants. Buy Dopies springs and purchase better tires (Eg.Hankook Ventus or Yokohama paradas), should make a significant difference. Changing out the struts not sure, the OEM struts are good, yours are nearly new and the KYB's may only offer a marginal change in ride quality.

I have read that the "sport" and "non sport" suspension are the same !

if you still want to keep your stock springs, I would invest in better tires than the Goodyear RSA. that alone will give you a softer ride.

but i have read that the sport are stiffer but not that much lower then the non sports

I contacted a few different parts departments and they said that the suspension (springs/struts) are the same. At least, the same part numbers. So I guess that's going to rule out swapping sport and non-sport springs.

I'd love to lower it, but my wife likes it how it is. Who am I to argue? I didn't know that the KYB's were the OEM shocks. I guess that doesn't leave me many options with the only exception of changing tires. I already like the Yokohamas.

How about this idea??? I throw on the non-sports 18"s wheels/tires on the car. If the suspension is the same, then I should significantly improve the ride. I would probably need to have Infiniti reprogram the ECU to something to account for the new tire size. I do love the wheels, but even the baby in back is bouncing around in his car seat and looks like a bobblehead trippin on LSD...hahaha.
