Knocking - Low RPM Knock

Cylinder 1 failure again. I am getting another new short block under warranty. I am just waiting for them to finish the work. I have to give Riverside Infiniti credit for taking care of me. Their service folks are knowledgable.

Thank you im heading over to a shop on monday to find out but worried of what it may be ....

Mean while i would be trying new gas, treatment and couple others that is simple to see if it gets any better....

I tried everything before taking it in too. I was able to isolate the sound to a specific area. Let the dealership take care of it if you are under warranty

Harsh but no warranty
Been way past that .....

Will be taking it to a local shop to get a free diagnostics if that diesnt work then
Off to stealers......

Tried new fuel !!! Additive!!!!!! Lucas treatment!!!!! Even a car wash and a prayer to no avail !!!!!!

Shucks!!!!!!!!!

Here is an update:

I took my car (08 M35 with 26k on the odometer) in to Riverside Infiniti on April 2nd for feint knocking noise (this is the second time now....). Of course, being a great service department, they decided to change my short block again under powertrain warranty. At the same time, I decided to email Infiniti Consumer Affair and inform them of my concern. My concern was: How in the world does the short block go out again within 5k miles of replacement?! They responded within a 2 days and my rep has offered me extended power train warranty (8 years or 100k miles) since my case was highly unusual and after informing him that the dealership believes that the problem may be associated with transmission...

Fast forward to today: I received a call from Riverside Infiniti. They informed me that they put another new block on my car, but there was another problem. Now the noise is even louder! WTF. They now suspect there is a problem with the transmission! I informed that I brought the car in for the same problem and last replacement fixed the problem. I asked them how can this be.... Plus, my transmission has not caused any noticeable problems. Heck, my car drove normal other than the feint knocking noise which I was afraid that it would get worse over time. My service rep said they have to look at the car again and they will get back to me on Monday. Consumer Affairs also informed me that they will get in touch with me on Monday after further diagnosis.

Maybe my M35 is cursed... lol They are diligently working on my problem and I'm sure they will solve it eventually. However, I am starting to be concerned about the longevity of my M35. I only have 26k miles on it and there are some serious repeat offenders and a new offender.

I'll update the site as I get more info from the dealership and Consumer Affair. I'm quite satisfied with the actions taken by both Consumer Affairs and the dealership. Stay tuned!

That sucks man, but good to hear they are trying to take care of you. With my first FX, the dealer replaced my engine twice as well due to our knocking, except I had about 20k miles between changes. With the other problems I had with it, I traded it in before my extended warranty expired. It's interesting what they are saying about the transmission. At least it is covered under warranty.

Here is another update: I picked up my car from Riverside Infiniti today. They definitely replaced my short block judging from the swooshing sound of coolant moving around. However, the knocking sound is even louder. Hell, in fact, I can actually hear the knocking from outside now. Before the sound could only be heard from the cabin with dead silence.

Before I picked up my car, the service manager called me to let me know that transmission is fine and the sound is normal. How is the sound normal when my car was perfectly fine before?! He probably thinks I'm retarded or something. I was just insulted that he said all this shit is normal. Why the hell did you replace my block twice then?! Both times were triggered by my concerns over the knocking sound. I suspect that the dealership just gave up since it was taking too much time and they just didn't know how to fix my problem.

Thankfully, there are laws that protect unfortunately consumers like myself. I've been in contact with a lemon law attorney and I've made a decision to pursue a lemon claim. I haven't had any problems with the FX35, but my M35 has been nothing but a headache... It comes with bad luck!

I'll keep you updated on the status of my lemon law proceedings. I have a feeling I have a strong case they couldn't fix my problem.
