question.. since we have an SUV now and I live near the water.. is this platform capable of towing a boat?? say maybe a 26 footer?

You couldn't tow a 26 footer.
I have a 24' Hardtop boat and on the trailer and loaded with gas and boat gear it's pushin 6,000 lbs. Yor FX is only rated for 3,500 lbs.
