So..I bought my fx used (sports package) and it only came with one key and no door remote. I've done some research on here and I am am a little confused on the keys..
Is the i-key only for push button starts?
Can a blank key and get it cut (need a second key for my GF so she can stop taking my key)?

any direction on this would help..

I key is for push button starts. regular keys are still "chipped" and will need to be programed to you vehicle. remotes would need to be programed aswell but you can do that yourself

Thanks J3FF3R$0N...I assume the chipped key will need to be cut and can I program the key myself just as the remote?

the key will need to be programed with the consult, the remote is just pressing buttons I dont know if there is a write up on the remotes on here but if there is not I can throw up the instructions for you

Thanks...I've seen the diy for the remotes I think..the key was the confusion really. I have seen diy's but it appears those are for the i-key.
The i-key can be programmed without a trip to the dealer?
I think the only way to program the key, both the smart and regular key, is unfortunately at the dealer. No way of getting around this.

And as J3FF3R$0N said, you can program the remote key fob yourself. There's plenty of info scattered all over the internet about this subject. Here's a good video:

^ J3FF3R$0N: I know, I was asking that guy, the post directly above mine because he said he that found DIY's for the i-key. Sorry for not quoting him in my original post.

aquilles10: Thanks for clearing that up for me.
