Bought an 06 FX35 when she had 28k miles on her. 10 years later 292k miles on the odometer and she was on her last breath. Three weeks ago she started to throw whole bunch of codes leading me to replace pretty much every sensors, plugs, coils and solenoid as per the recommended repair from autozone code scanning database. No luck. She wouldn’t accelerate when the pedal is depressed. So I brought her in to a friends shop. Compression is gone in multiple cylinders. Oils burned in those cylinders and clogged up the catalyst converters.
Long story short, transplanted an 05 G35 motor with 66k miles on it into her. Custom cat converters were build to replace the clogged ones.
Picked her up today. Ran like new. Lots of power and torque. The signature exhaust note are back.
Engine swap and cat converters build came out to $3900. Dealer wanted $500 just to perform diagnostics without any repair and wanted $4500 for the motor swap
