Do you need to disconnect the MAF sensor if you are just replacing the drop in filter?

Do you need to disconnect the MAF sensor if you are installing just a Stillen Z-tube?

No and no, though it does make the z-tube installation much easier.
 
Thanks for the quick reply. For the Z-tube, how long would you say it will take and does that small tube (L shape for the small hose) now sit on the bottom?
 
Disconnect the plug from the tube? Probably makes it easier and that way you can't break it while moving the tube around.
 
I could do it in 5min. For a first timer, 15min tops. The z-tube will only fit within about 35 degrees of axial rotation, so the hose bung sort of sits where it fits. The important part is that it faces forward so your hose will connect properly.
 
Last question, does the engine cover need to be removed? Thanks for all the help! I'll try it tomorrow.

It' would be way easier with the engine cover off solely for the sake of the hose clamp on the engine side of the tube. Getting a screwdriver back there with the cover in place would be a challenge.
 
Just installed the z-tube and it wasn't that bad. My main concern was the tube was secure and positioned correctly. Other then looks is there any benefits of buying the OEM z-tube by Nissan vs the Stillen? Now that the Stillen Z-tube is installed do I need to tune or do anything to the car?

No x2. A tune never hurts but you don't NEED one after the z-tube install.
 
Just get a tune after you have more power mods to your engine, such as manifold spacer, so it is more economical this way.
