K&n air filter

Hey, it's a fairly common mod, so as you might imagine there's lots of threads on the subject. Just type in "K&N" into the search bar in the top right and a bunch will pop up.

The drop in filter is a nice little mod, the cone filters are even better for the butt dyno. :wink (2):

I'm a little leary of using any filter that has to be oiled because if over oiled it can get the
MAF sensor dirty and cause issues.

Had issue with my after install K&N, it come pre-oiled. if you start having issue your air mass sensor it the one to be test first. some people report no issue. K&N claim map sensor safe. I'm not so lucky. some how I replace air mass sensor, put oem filter back and issue go away. imagine that.

mine has it on. But it was there when I bought it. I do like K&N filters. If it didn't have it I would have installed it anyway. Nothing wrong with oiled filters as long as you use them correctly and clean them regularly on schedule.

I know that there are about 10 billion threads on this topic throughout the internet. All I know is that I have owned 1 K&N filter and I've owned 10 cars (plus the various family cars growing up etc.). The 1 car with the K&N filter had MAF sensor issues ('02 Sentra). This is completely a FWIW/YMMV post - not trying to start yet another K&N war, but I don't use them. I currently have an Amsoil filter in my FX that I'm also not impressed with (UOA showed more silicone than I was expecting). I plan to just start using PureOne filters and swapping them out once per year - I'm done with serviceable filters.

I used to use K & N in a couple of my other cars. But now I just use the OEM replaceable filters. For me it's a lot less hassle and I never did notice a performance increase with the K & N.
If I was to go aftermarket I would go with a cone filter and related aftermarket intake plumbing.
