Just took these pix-Snow

1 pair only....
RWD chains go on rear
AWD...chains go on rear

going to BB...go half way up to where they require you to put chains on...PAY THE GUYS $10-20! it's worth it..they do it in like 5 minutes....it will take you 30 minutes!

Thats another advantage to these chains they have a second link point on inside so you don't have to drive onto them just slide around tire and connect. My daughter who has never put chains on before did these with no problems. It takes me 2 min with these they are almost as quick as the spider spikes on other car.

R-2: Chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tread tires on all four wheels, provided tire chains for at least one set of drive wheels are carried in the vehicle

FX's are not a true 4wd.....we are part time, chains should be used on rear wheels when required.

current snow conditions for BBear and Snow Summit:
http://www.snowsummit.com/index_winter.php
12/17
Hwy 330/18 from San Bernardino- Open, Chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tires, vehicles are being redirected through Fawnskin at the Big Bear Lake Dam however; there are delays on North Shore.(R2)
Hwy 38 from Redlands- Closed to thru traffic. Open with chains required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tires to residents only.(R2)
Hwy 18 from Lucerne Valley- Open, Chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel drives with snow tires.(R2)</B>

With Snow mode on split is 50/50 so the front would offer more steering control

im coming tomorrow!!!! and i have awd snow tires... i love blasting past all those freezing people with their cold cold hands putting on chains.... but you still have to carry chains... and dont bury them... cuz they will ask to see them.
saw on tv its about 4" an hour. yayers
PS... anyone tell how stoked i am about first snowday

Great pics. Looks like a beautiful place to live!

Two quick questions about Big Bear:

1. Is property ridiculously expensive up there?
2. At what elevation are you?

You wont be so stoked if they close the roads on you. Stuff's always falling on 330/18.
fingers crossed for ya, cuz it can get awful cold sitting in the car :err:

Traction is great with the 265/40/22 hankook RH06'2 but I do have to clear snow out of wheels cause the packed in snow was causing wheel ballance to be so bad that steering wheel was shaking pretty good around 30mph.Cleared the snow out of wheels and problem fixed.
Even though snow traction is good it would be better if I get some Hankook I Spikes with studs mounted on my OE 18's.
Started snowing pretty hard this morning we could get another foot to 18" today alone. It's been ten years since we got this much snow all at once.
Skiing and Snowboarding should be excelent the snow is a nice light duff lots of fresh powder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tup:
I'll take some more pix later.

Muhaa more proof Hankook RH06's are great in snow. And these are 22's!!!

We are under R3 Chain restriction now that means even four wheel drives need chains.
