So where's the video?

Im at school I got a little distracted...

also when i upgraded to windows 7 it got rid of my video driver or something so now windows movie maker doesn't work so i'm using some online video editor.

Itll be up soon

wow that actually sounds great. didn't expect it to sound like that at all. I wish I could hear it in person, hear how i sounds inside, etc.

so what made you decide to go the muffler delete route instead of invidia or borla? only cost? Did you consider removing the cats or putting on performance cats?

by the way, in the second video...good thing that wasn't a cop! LOL

it actually was a cop lmao.....

But yeah it turned out sounding really great. Cost was the first reason but also wanted to be able to change it around instead of just changing the entire thing....

I do have some in-car footage too

you were probably going at least 50 in the 30 no? so did he do anything? Plus your friend standing in the middle of the road with a camera lol

what about the cats?

He just drove by, my friend was actually in his convertible holding the camera up.....

Ill leave the cats and resonators for now.

So this is basically a muffler delete right?

Is it loud in the cabin while cruising, as in any drone? Would really be annoying on a long road trip if it was.

How does the butt dyno feel with this?

It does sound sick though!

it's literally I took the muffler off and put straight pipes. The in-cabin sound is not drony or bad at all i just drove 3 hours to school with it.

Effect of muffler delete and replacing with straight pipe

so I'm thinking of just cutting off the muffler (I mean, unbolting it and removing it) and running straight pipes from the resonators....

I have been trying to search the topic, but people always aregue the yes or no question:
Will removing the mufflers 'reduce' 'backpressure' enough to cause a loss in power?

or, will removing the mufflers create more velocity within the exhaust, but shift the torque curve slightly up, thus causing the butt dyno to feel a "loss" in power? But meanwhile there is a slight increase in mid-upper hp (2-5hp?)

The borla to me just sounds like straight pipes with HFC and no resonator, and there are no high-quality microphone recordings/videos of the exhaust. (plus I do not really want to spend $1400)

There is a video or two of a muffler delete/straight pipes but the video/sound quality sucks...and there are a lot of 'custom exhaust' videos (usually just a resonator/muffler delete, cat delete, test pipes, straight pipes axle-back, etc) but people either do not include enough detail or do not respond/answer/give detail when you ask exactly what they have done to the exhaust.......

What do you guys think? Any v8 veterans out there? I have read up on camaro/mustang/gto/etc forums and people do muffler deletes and some claim a gain, some claim a loss, some claim nothing but a louder car...

The problem also is, i don't want it to just be LOUD, I want it to actually have a nice note, since it is basically silent now....so I'm not sure if straight pipes would sound nice or just make it loud with no real sound improvement.....I do not want it to sound like a muscle car, I just want it to have a decent exhaust note!

:skull:

Going back on some of Jbaker's questions, I still haven't seen any replies in relation to the following: "Will removing the mufflers 'reduce' 'backpressure' enough to cause a loss in power?

I'm actually thinking of doing the same, but I still want to know what sort of effect that will have on the issues mentioned in the questions.

I also wanted to know if it would have a negative effect on fuel consumption.

Does anybody know?

Any feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks:tup:

it's just a muffler. Its job is to muffle sound. It is not going to effect performance in any way besides the loss of a few pounds of metal.
The cats and resonators are a different story...but the muffler does just that: muffles.
If anything this improved the velocity of the exiting exhaust.
Sounds sick jordan. Susquehanna is only a hour away from ithaca... just sayin:tongue (2):

Nice man so you can drive here to visit lmao

I'm going to go look at a local shop here in a couple weeks. Still trying to decide between "just" the Borla (since it's the only kit I have found in my limited searches) or full custom. Are there any videos that show before and afters back to back?

Finally made an actual video on youtube..
