It sure is easy to rack up the miles on the FX isn't it?

I normally drive 15K a year since I travel so much for work. Most of my driving consisted of the approx 45 miles between home and the airport every week.

However, since buying my FX on Sept 2nd, I've driven almost 4K in a month!! Did my first oil change Wed of this week at 3766 miles. I just can't seem to pry myself from the driver's seat whenever I'm home. I even drove to upstate NY this month instead of flying because some of the back roads are so nice up there.

I'm loving this vehicle though I just can't bring myself to call it a truck. I drove the Acura MDX, Lexus RX350 and we owned an 02 ML320 for the last 5 yrs (my wife's truck). Those are trucks. The FX was the closest I could get to a sports sedan and still retain the practicality, storage and family friendliness of an SUV.

I picked up a second set of 18" OEM wheels (thanks Ege!!) and plan to mount the Dunlop WinterSport M3's. I now can't wait for inclement weather!

I drove an 05 Xterra for the last 3 yrs and while it was great in the winter, it wasn't exactly soul stirring to drive. The FX, OTOH has made driving fun again...not just a mode of transportation. We can't ask for much more in a vehicle, can we?

It definitely is, that for sure. My FX45 which I bought new is only 3 years young and I have 71k and still going strong!

Nice to hear you are enjoying it just as much now as when you bought it.

I don't drive mine as much as I like... (because I still have the daily driver Acura TL-S), but when I do... it's pure pleasure... even if it's going to the market around the corner

I know exactly how you feel. We live in a touristy, coastal New England town that has a nice little downtown area. Many weekends, I could park my car on Fri and not have to drive until Mon. We would walk into town Saturday & Sunday mornings for coffee, bagels and the paper or walk to the playground with the kids, out for dinner, etc.. Nowadays, I'm happily hopping in the FX all weekend to run errands :)

BTW, my father in law bought a TL-S in 02 or 03. It's a blast to drive. Lots of HP for a mid sized sedan.

My thoughts exactly. I'm still surprised by the superior dynamics of the FX. The only other car I test drove was the Cayenne S and the FX bettered it. And I'm a Porsche fanboy.

Im goin to the dealer tomorrow morning - but I bought my own Mobil1.....

:dito: or else. Once I used a Mobile 1 sale at Pep Boys, MB1 and labor was $47.32. I have not used the bring oil to dealer method yet, next change. I think Psiclne has done this in the past, maybe he can chime in on the labor price. (great idea btw)

ive tried motul oil before...

ken u go to vons in ur FX? too many bad drivers there... like me lol jk

2004 and just hit the 60k mark... gonna celebrate with a retune/tightening/oil change/car wash and a cake for me

BTW, how much does the 3500 mile oil change cost?

Infiniti dealer runs about ~$47 for just an oil change and ~$69 for their oil change 'plus' what ever that means (I forgot to ask). I'm sure they 'inspect' things :)

However, my local Nissan dealer is a bit closer than the infiniti dealer. They use the same filter and same oil and charge $35. They actually get a lot of infiniti vehicles there because there isn't an infiniti dealer close by. And they are great about getting you in and out while you wait. I called ahead and was only there for about 15 min. Not quite Jiffy Lube fast, but fast enough for me.

I'll switch over to synthetic after another oil change or two. Still haven't decided which.

What's funny is that I never considered the Cayenne. Just figured it was out of my price range. In the end, it was the performance of the FX that got me. Once I made the choice, it was the manufacturer's incentives that pushed me to a brand new 08 instead of a certified pre-owned 06 or 07.

No hook up today.......

Parts - $9.70 (Filter $8.50 + Washer Drain $1.20)
Labor - $14.43
Waste Disposal - $2.88

I could have swore that I was only charged $14 total last time.
