Alright, I just finished installing my iSimple Gateway for my FX.
It plays through my iPod well.

Anyway, there are two ports on the Gateway: Port 1 and Port 2 are for the iPod cable and the AUX cable.
But there's no way to cycle through the modes on the screen or steering wheel.
I read the manual thoroughly, but I don't know what I did wrong.

It doesn't even read what song is playing through the screen! :/

and here's the manual:

That's not possible because the iPod cable that plugs into the gateway has different connections.
The regular iPod cable plugs into the iPod and any USB device.
The iSimple cable plugs into the iPod and the iSimple gateway (looks like a PS/2 keyboard/mouse connector)

I'm not sure if this could be the problem..but...

I didn't disconnect the battery.
Because I didn't, when I plugged in the main 10-pin harness, the radio started making noise..
..like the discs started changing. It went on for about 30 seconds, then stopped.
Then I plugged the rest of the cables into the back of the radio.... :/
My radio presets were reset, doesn't matter to me, though.

I'm not sure if that's what caused the problem.. so I disconnected the main 10-pin harness.
Still have all the cables plugged into the radio. After about half an hour, I'm going to plug in the main harness,
then see if that'll reset the radio and make things work.
If it doesn't, I don't know

Nah, when I installed the MediaBridge it did the same thing. It's just the radio resetting after having the power removed. Do you have the latest firmware on the gateway? Otherwise, try the display button on the radio and see if cycling through that brings anything up.

Ooooo... I'm not sure.. fml lol and my iPod Touch is iOS 5.1.1, so it's probably ahead of my Gateway unit.
I'll contact the seller and ask him about the firmware version.

Also, I did try the display button and it just showed different displays of the word "AUXILARY 1" It's not even spelled correctly. :/

subscribing as my ISNI571 will be here tomorrow and I planned on installing it Thursday night.
Hope you get it figured out!

The rep clarified that I should update the unit's firmware. I'm gonna try again this weekend, since this week has been nothing but bad luck.

The unit drained my battery because for some reason it's using energy even when the car is off. I even plugged my ipod this morning after the car has been in the garage overnight... It charged it. Anyway, started the car and of course.. No juice in the battery. I removed the gateway and charged the. It worked. I left the battery alone for 5 hours. It worked. The rep emailed me:

" Not at all. This module shouldn't pull more than 15 mA from the vehicle (when an iPod is not charging) which would take weeks to drain a good standing battery. If our module is pulling more then pelase do a current draw test and let me know your findings."

Unfortunately, when starting my car this morning, I shorted my 9500ix. I have a warranty on it, though.

Can you explain how you updated the firwmare?

Mine just came in a few minutes ago, mine has
Firmware
REV 1.7.817b

So that is the same as you have.
I MIGHT try to install mine tonight, if I can find some threads about how to do it.

I followed the manual in my earlier post.
I only messed around with two ports on the back of the radio. The ones shown in my earlier post.

The hardest part of the install was removing those plugs, because they're hard to unclip..IMO

So... it turns out my battery was bad to begin with lol replacing it today, then installing the module on Friday.

I installed mine on Sunday.

Mine had the same problem as yours, Auxiliary showing.
You have to read the manual and then select the source as iPod.
Once the source is as iPod then your FX will display the information on the Ipod.

I chose to NOT have the info displayed and kept is as Aux so that I can USE my iphone instead of being forced to go through the car knobs.

I'm going to follow this thread, as I have still not figured out which ipod/aux connection method I want to go for.

This Isimple gateway, what are the features? does it replace the XM, or keep XM in line? (can you still use factory XM if ipod unplugged etc) Does it have BT or auxiliary input for non apple doc pieces?

Also now that the new apple devices are ditching the doc connector for lightning, I know theyre supposed to have adapters from doc to lightning, but who knows if there will be issues still.
Thanks
