Is your fx a weekend vehicle or for every day use!?

daily too. but im always on the hunt for a small car to drive around. if i get one, then the fx becomes occassional car.

I seriously don't understand people that don't want to put miles on the car. That is the point of a vehicle. Why keep miles down - for resale value? The cost of gas is about the only valid argument I can think of. How are you going to spend the cash on an FX50 and then not want to spend money for gas or money for maintenance? Being conservative with driving your car might seem like a good idea, but what is it actually saving you?

My FX is has been a daily driver since 2004 and I have 115,000 miles on her. I fill the tank once a week, driving 60 miles round trip every day.

I recently bought a Mazda Miata as a beater to drive while the FX is in the shop finishing up the turbo build. The Miata gets great gas mileage and costs less than half to fill the tank, but it just doesn't compare to the FX in terms of comfort and utility. The Miata will be the weekend for fun car. FX is a luxury workhorse and babying her too much is a waste of resources (already spent) IMO.

Daily driver. I've had weekend cars before (vette, Z28, stang, etc) and none of them were driven enough to justify having them. Plus you never know when it's going to get taken out. I had a pristine mustang that I pampered. Had it for 4 years, had it pretty much decked out the way I wanted it. Took it out one day, lady pulls out in front of me, and instantly totaled it. 4 years and only 8k miles on it. I might as well have driven it 80k miles because insurance didn't care that it was hardly driven. That one I probably regret not driving the most because it was just wasted.

So I've learned you might as well drive it and enjoy it. Sorta like spending time with relatives. You never know when they are going to get taken from you, so you should enjoy every moment you get with them.

i have to keep my miles down due to insurance purposes. simply put, the more i drive, the more i pay every month. its a dd but for nights out for fun, i switch between my gfs suzuki and when my landlord goes to california she lets me drive her volvo as long as i clean it for her. it's been working out like this for more than a year. and i have actually saved a lot of money.

I roll mine every day, for everything from going to dinner with my wife to taking the dogs to the vet to bringing power tools to the job site. Miles be damned, my daily enjoyment is worth far more to me than the resale value... If I ever sell it at all. So far there is nothing available I would even consider for a replacement.
Bingo! Once you stop mileage watching is when you start enjoying the car. I was the same way back in h.s.

Well for me I'm still kind of stuck in the "new car phase". lol I don't know why though. I kind of have OCD and high miles bother me. I don't know how to explain it, but I hope you get what I mean. I feel the lower miles it has, the newer the car feels to me. I don't know how to put it any other way.:tongue (2):

I'll second this, can't say how much I enjoy rolling up to a supply store and seeing how much gear I can squeeze in the FX then dropping it off at a work site. I'm careful how I pack it up but the utility of the FX is partly what drew me in. Yeah, it doesn't hold a sheet of plywood or sheet rock like my Landcruiser did but there are guys with trucks for hauling materials that don't fit in the FX.

MY FX currently is holding up a tire stop in a garage in California :frown:

I miss it. I see FXs all over here in Vancouver, and they're mostly all stocks... occasionally I'll see one with wheels, but usually needing a lowering job very badly

:tongue (2): mine too. I miss driving it on a daily basis. But upside is I don't miss paying for the gas, and the car is in the same condition I parked it in 6 months ago! hahahahah :frown:

Daily: FX 60% ... Datsun 510 30%
Weekend: 510 70% ...FX 25% ...Mountain bike 5%
I'm starting to restore my Lotus Europa, so I hope to add it as my weekend/autoXer.

I'm missing 10% daily! LOL

DD for me. I drive it to work (which is about 15km's one way = 30km's total), to the gym (5km one way) and random errands. I managed to fill it up once every 10 days on average. Not too bad.....

Can't imagine having a second car when I love driving my FX soooooo much.....what would be the point of spending a longer commute in a car that is not as much fun to drive or is as comfy as my FX??

I can not find the nuts to remove the headlight unit. What im trying to do is set up my headlights to angle eyes. If any one knows how to remove the unit from fx 35 06. man down !

are you trying to take out the headlights or pry it open?
for a first timer, i suggest taking off the bumper so you have the knowledge of where all the nuts and bolts are. there's 3 10mm bolt that you have to take off...or may be to and one smaller, i have completely forgotten.

wait a minute...

How does that work ? your insurance physically checks your milage every year ? Never heard of policy like that

I use it as a car.... So it doesn't sit for the purpose of saving miles.. I bought it to use and not to sit and park :smug:

Mine is a daily driver.

I commute 28 miles round trip per day to work and probably do an avg of 30 miles on the weekend. I fill up about 1.5 times per week and most of my driving is city crap which sucks. Had i know i would be working this far from home, i might have opted for a G37x to lessen the blow on MPG.

I work 1.5 miles from home. So i pretty much ride my bike everyday to work. I use the FX on the weekends.

I bought my 06 FX in July 2009 w/ 48,500 miles on it. I crossed the 82,000 miles mark on 11/4/2010. It's my daily driver, and I average one fill up a week, and about 400 miles a week.
