Is it possible to watch movies off an external harddrive?

I was wondering if it was possible to hook up an external hard drive to the dvd player and watch movies off of that. If not, is there an aftermarket dvd player that I can buy to make this possible. I have a shitload of movies on my external harddrive and it would be pretty awesome if I can watch them in the FX.

You can just buy a hdd media player and hook it up. Works best if you have access to rca ports.. There's a thread on ... search for it as I'm on my phone.

I use Ipod touch as my external source and hook up rca to stock rear dvd player, if you have none tech will need more work but off it can be done.
any thing is possible, didn't you watch Pimp My Ride?
