Is idling the least effective way of warming your car?

I also heard is not good too like it waste a lot of gas and its better to just let ur car warm as you drive and just go easy on it. Not sure tho

the article says waiting 30-60 seconds after starting is optimal...and when it's really cold, 5 minutes. This is about right. I don't know anyone that remote starts their car for over a long period of time like 15 minutes or something. In fact, most remote starts will turn the car off by then. I prefer not to wait, so I remote it was I'm waking to the car, get in and go, which is much better for the car than to turn the key and go.

Yeah i was thinking about getting the remote start just for the cool factor and when I go to my car just start it get it and go which makes me kinda lazy but seems cool. Also the viper package has security which is also good especially if you have nice rims or if you live in a sketch area. I'm probably not going to get one until im finished with all my other mods.

ive waited at least 5 minutes for the past 9 years to warm up my car at cold start, usually before heading out. My car is still running strong

My parents are super fob and dont know much about that and theyve always just ran the car without any sort of warm up then again they are asian so not much reving. Dad has had his toyota for about 8-10 years i think and my mom has had her lexus for about 10. No sort of problems at that point.

What actually can happen tho if you decide to never warm your engine and just start red lining it.

With newer cars its better to get in and drive and let the car warm as you drive.

Haha! I used to be a warm-up enthusiast as well, made me feel good. It was like "Maybe if I warm it up a little longer the car would feel better."

Remote star tis programmed to shut off after 5 min on my car. Idling for a few minutes to warm up isn't going to kill your car, but petal to the metal on a cold motor is not good either. you need to balance it out. Starting and stopping the motor is also not very good for it.

Yeah don't just start the car and redline it, drive it normal until it reaches normal driving temps.

So the consensus is: it is good to warm her up just enough and she will be more responsive. Good. I will try that tonight. :good:
