irritated by this hissing noise..

All of the sudden i started to hear this hissing sound rather from inside the car than under the hood. Noticed this weird sound, so got off the car, popped the hood up, sticked my head in as close as possible, but it wasnt from there. This hissing is not heard when i step on accel, but very clear when the car is in park with the engine turned on, or when its in drive while it's completely stopped. Ive done some searching from the scene but i don't find the exact match. Could anyone give any advise?
 
Only thing I can think of is dry belts, but that would be from the engine area . . . or maybe air flow at the upper plenum
 
No i couldlnt pinpoint where the noise was from. Its not the speaker for sure since i had a very minor hissing from there and could recognize the difference. I will check back just in case. Thank all ya for the comments.
 
I had a sound like that in my max before i traded it. My A/C wasnt working around the time i started hearing it but i never got it fixed so i dont know what it really was.
 
Do you have after market subs? the problem with the rear wire assembly is the the the amp will stay on even though your stereo is turned off. Also, pop the rear seat up and listen. What your hearing maybe the fuel pump located under the rear seat on the passenger side. Usually, they have a piece of foam covering it to catch the noise.

yup you were right, it was the belt. Can't believe i didn't notice it was the belt even after i popped the hood up. I must have been careless. Anyways, does this mean i need a new belt??? whats the cost if you have any idea?

No mines dead stock. I think i found the problem, now i need to know what can i do with it=)

just throwing out there that if tranny fluid is pretty low it can make a hissing/whining noise too...

I actually had the new tranny fluid some months ago so im hoping it's not causing any problem:rolleyes:
