IR Extender for rear DVD

Has anyone used or can give input on installing a IR extender to the rear DVD screen?
I have done the NAV-TV mod and want to use the remote up front w/o doing a yoga pose to use the remote.

I have found PAC makes a unit but not sure on our IR freq.

there are other brands I found also, but really just need a unit that is for automotive application.

I was reading over at mp3car.com and some members suggest extending the existing IR wires (re solder).
I kinda want the back to work also, so this may take away from that.

I've used the pac, it does what you want it to do, extending the ir is good too but the pac is much easier & can still use the remote in the rear, although if you relocate to around the clock area it'll probably still be usable from the rear too...

so I assume the PAC uses the same freq as our DVD screen ?

it just takes in an ir signal & retransmits it, sends whatever it recieves, no rf freq's to worry about, it's ir... it'll work for anything ir I think...

according to the specs : 40 kHz and 56 kHz operation range

I'll give it a go when MS cashback goes up (currently 8%) , in no hurry to do this anyways.

We have used the PAC piece quite a bit at our shop and it works like a champ. All it does is "repeats" the IR command. It will work with any remote.

yeah, I've never found any remote that it didn't work with either, most ir remotes work at the same freq, which is why universal remotes & programmable remotes are so sucessful, the freq doesn't change, just the pulses that the ir signal sends & yeah, these just retransmit what they recieve...
