My wife and I both have the iPhone 5 and they have been flawless since they came out other than could use better battery life, although we both use it much more than the average user.

Agreed battery life is mediocre at best. I have the mophie charge pack though so I get through a day no problem. I recommend it for heavy users
Low coverage is an issue, the worse the signal the more the phone increases its ping efforts attempting to find a signal. Hard to remember to shut it down. My best experience still was on deep in mainland China with phone roam off and somehow it connected to a Chinese country western station for a day. $1,400.00 dollars for 6 hours 
in the end they ate it but I am amazed how much they can collect for air time, then dig in their heels when it comes to a refund.

You know how the richest man in the world is a Mexican telecom guy? There's one section of I-10 where I guess the Mexican signal is stronger than the US one, and my phone would connect. I always put it on airplane mode for fear of getting a text or email that costs $100.
