Invidia Gemini Exhaust Issue ..

Hi Guys ,,

a week ago I've Installed Invidias Gemini Exhaust , I went to a Modifying Company which it doesnt have that much knowledge about infiniti cars ..

So what happened is , you know that invidias exhaust are long and it has to be shorten them to install it properly , I've seen many Invidias Exhaust threads about installing it , I guess they cuts it from the long pipes , but what they did is they cut it from the begining ( After the Engine ) ,

scaled.php

does that have to do with increasing the drone ?

and will that affect the exhaust sound in general ?

and is it wrong installation to cut it from the begining ?

whats your recomendation with this exhaust system?

+ after driving for like 50 KM , when I stop in the garage and I push the accelerator pedal for many times it sounds like something inside the exhaust , like small stones , is that normal also ?

And How I Can Minimize the Drone ? coz the loudy sound is Horrible at low torque ..

Regards
;-)

I don't think where it was cut would contribute more or less drone level. My experience with Invidia was there are some drone on the first gen, but not too much to become annoying. Not sure about Invidia for 2nd Gen though. It should not affect the sound too much to become noticeable neither. If you hear stones rattling inside the exhaust, I wonder if something got left or felt into the pipes? I would take it apart just to make sure there are nothing loose that caused the sound you described. That certainly not normal to me :smile (2):

Hmm, that CC insert is an interesting product. I didn't know of such. Anyhow, I would try that first. For fact, I know dynamat will not helps. Well I dynamat the trunk and rear seat area because my kids been telling that my car is too loud and gave them a headache. I'm sure there some exaggeration there; nonetheless, there are time I thought the Invidia was a bit loud to me too. So I decided to dynamat. It did helps (a little) with the exhaust volume, but I can tell you it done nothing to less the drone. Maybe a little less since the exhaust level got covered up.

Best guess to solve your drone issue is to resonnate immediately after the cats. Problem is you don't have much room between the flex section and the cats. I'd suggest to remove the flex and install a a couple of resonnators. Flow is a science and when you have an issue from the beginning its a challenge to track it down and fix it. Resonance on my Invidia system was also a problem for me and as the system broke in it became more noticeable (eventually I gave up and changed out to a Nismo system). As LA said sound deadening will do little to nothing to help the issue.

The pebble issue could be something inside, one of the pipes tapping out or possibly a heat shield rattling. IMO - It is not so important that the company doing the installing knows Infiniti's they just need to understand exhaust systems.

Hi All...I noticed that my Invidia exhaust is coming into contact with my GTspec real lateral brace when I hit large bumps
or potholes. It makes an annoying rattling sound that I'd like to quiet somehow. Is there any type of heat resistant material I could wrap around
the pipe so it would cushion the impact? I just need something to fill a small gap between the pipe and the brace. Any suggestions??

Get some polyurethane hangers like this. The rubber hangers must have stretched.

I had the muffler shop make a custom brace on the invidia pipe on the passenger side and now it clears the GT spec brace with no issues.

That looks great man...that's exactly the spot where mine is hitting the brace. Maybe I'll see if a local shop can do this for me.
Thanks for taking the time to post the pic...this helps :)

Hmm, I got that from Ed. Checkout the site printed on the package.

Also, I was able to find these on ebay...think I might just replace the rubber ones and try to have a custom brace made. Do you know what size we need for the FX, they come in 10mm, 12mm, and 15mm?

I would suggest to get at least as large as the one I have. I have them on my car, so I know that size works. Anything smaller will be very difficult to slip it over the hanger rod since it doesn't stretch any.

When I had mine installed, the shop welded on an extra hanger too. It's where matrixx's is since there's an OEM hanger there. Not sure why Invidia doesn't put one there. They made it so that it moved the exhaust up just enough to clear the brace. So far in 6 months, it hasn't made contact even once.

Yeah exactly what they did and no issues, invidia should make the extra bracket.

Every shop that saw my system was shocked that there was such a long throw with no support. Granted the system is different than stock but they should have taken into account the need for the mid hanger on the OE system and added it in accordingly. My guess is that there was fitment testing on this system but not much drive/testing time, could be an awesome system but to fully commit to "awesome" you have to be willing to make running modifications to your product(s).

Thx Andy....looks like 15mm is what I need. I'll try those and I'm also looking for a muffler shop that can weld a bracket there. I agree with the
others...I think it def needs some type of mid support. Invidia really should've made one there....
