Hey guys. im picking up an exhaust soon. i wanted to know ur feedback on the exhaust. Is it loud and deep? thats how i like it. Does the noise get annoying? thanks!

Great exhaust. I'm not sure about 2nd gen fitment (I assume this is a 2ng gen-ready variant?), but I had custom welded mine, including use of lighter resonators in place of the large mufflers supplied by Invidia.

Also, if you get a chance, remove the secondary cats and replace them with test pipes. You shouldn't have emissions or OBD2 issues, and you'll gain some more flow = more power.

The invidia is a nice exhaust but it is loud and does drone. Way better than stock though, you will like it

The sound is deep, it doesn't sound like the OEM exhaust. It's "boomier" for lack of a better word. I'm running the front half of a 2nd gen Invidia and rear half of a 1st gen on my '07. And I replaced the little resonators that came with the exhaust with a resonated Magnaflow X-pipe. That has minimized the drone on mine; it gets louder in the 2-3K rpm range under load, but it doesn't drone and hwy cruising is comfortable.

Why are you running the front half from a 2nd gen? Are they different in anyway? Just wondering since your so low, does the front half from the 2nd gen give extra clearance? I'm starting to need it...lol

No, they're not different. The reason I did it was that I wanted to get an Invidia, but didn't want to deal with the drone. And looking at it, the reason it drones is because of the useless resonators (they're tiny). I always wanted to add a resonated X-pipe to it like the Z/G guys do to cut the drone on their exhausts. But dropping $900 for the exhaust + $100 for the X-pipe + labor seemed steep for a hunch that it would work.

So somehow the stars aligned and I saw a member selling the rear section of his Invidia for the 1st gen. Basically from the X-pipe back. Then I saw a member selling the front section from the cats to the X pipe but this was for a 2nd gen. Finally, someone on G35driver was selling a new Magnaflow resonated X-pipe. This was all too good to pass up so I gave it a shot.

The front 2nd gen Invidia portion is identical to the 1st gen. Which makes sense as you can fit an HR Y-pipe onto our 1st gen FX's. So it's not going to buy you any extra clearance. All of the exhaust sits above the W shaped brace for the most part. The cats sit lower and the flanges do as well, but it's not by much. Unfortunately there's not much room to move the pipes up, I had the shop try. But the exhaust isn't really going to be a clearance issue. It sits at about the same height as the suspension points on the frame and the lowest part is right behind the front wheels which is much better than having the lowest part in the middle of the FX (that's how you high center).

^ Shadow, that's very interesting what you did there. Next time you had your ride raised up for whatever work you had lined up ;-) would you mind to take a picture and share it?

Thanks

Here's some pics of the work they did.

Invidia front section with resonators - these are about 10" long, so not very big. And I believe they were added to the first version Invidia exhaust to cut drone.

This is after welding the Magnaflow resonated X-pipe on there. It's part #11386 and designed for Mustangs/Camaro's. As you can see, it's a good deal bigger than the OEM resonators.

And what it looks like on the car. Tight fit, but it clears and it's not touching anything. It's slightly more difficult to install and remove since it's one big piece now, but on a lift no problems.

OP, sorry for the off topic. To bring it back on topic, the Invidia is a very good exhaust. What I did to it was to personalize it to me, I'm over loud cars (my FX has also been fully covered in sound deadener). Most everyone else is fine with the volume of the Invidia. The resonated X-pipe doesn't really change the tone much, it makes it smoother relative to a standard Invidia.

I can also see why the Invidia is designed the way it is. There is no other place on the exhaust to put the resonators that size (Stillen puts them behind the X-pipe). They're fitting 2 pipes in the pathway that one normally goes. We tried to remount the small resonators elsewhere and they don't fit. They also can't get bigger resonators up front since there also needs to be room/length for the X-pipe. I bought some room by combining the resonators and X-pipe into the one unit. Short of running bigger mufflers, there's not much anyone can do to make a dual quieter.
