Definitely post up photos - we all have the same feelings about the car as you!
Well most of us anyway. All depends on what you are here for but I can tell you that this forum in particular is one of the best I have had the pleasure of belonging to. We've sort of talked about it amongst ourselves - we think it has something to do with the demographic of people that get bit by the FX bug. This forum is part of your FX experience so use it to it's fullest!
You mention mods - what are you looking to do? Are you a DIY type or will your hubby be executing your grand plan?
In terms of look and feel, most first generation owners will tell you that the coilover suspension is the way to go. You get to dial in the ride height and the shock dampening to your exact tastes. Very nice for around $1000 and with the right brand, gauranteed replacement for any reason $99 after purchasing the set. Hard to beat that.
A popular mod for the interior is Vinyl wraps. They come in all kinds of colors and even patterns like Carbon Fiber. Some people wrap just a few items, others wrap everything. There are also dash kits available (stick on color trim) but they are a little expensive, IMO.
Performance is a whole other ball of wax and the rabbit hole goes as deep as you want it to!
Just about everything you can imagine has been discussed here so definitely use that search feature to find tons of great info. Welcome to IS!!!

Sorry guys! its the summer! been a lot going on including taking the time to make the fx our own. I really do appreciate all the warm welcomes and supportive feedback,
I have sooooooooooo much to learn and have been surfing the forums and gathering all the great stuff you have already posted,
it would be great if I could get an e-mail when someone has responded to my post so I dont leave it hangin- did I miss this somewhere?
got my sport pedals in today and installed- me likey...
thanks but no tradey on the ex, :p in love, ya know? lol still very much in the honeymoon phase, I find myself driving when i could be walking just because I cant get enough of driving it around, AC cranked, whipping the hair around, cranking the tunes.
Looking forward to learning more, and yes getting up some pics- you guys seem awesome
