So every 3-4 weeks or so, I noticed that when I got in the car, the "Intelligent Key battery discharge indicator" light would be on and then it would go off as soon as I put the key in the Intelligent Key port. I was under the impression that it needed to be "charged" and putting it in the key port "charges" the intelligent key battery.
I also thought this was the case because after I would see that indicator and put it in the port while driving for > 1/2 hour, the next few weeks, the indicator would NOT light up. Two days ago it started lighting up so I did the same thing, but now every time I start the car the indicator comes on even after keeping it in the port.
Then I checked out the manual and it says nothing about charging, so I'm not sure where I read or heard that and now am thinking it was just coincidence that it just would not show the warning message before and now I just need to change the battery.
1. So does the port actually charge or do anything to the key or is it really just a place holder for the key fob and that is the only purpose?
2. Looks like I need the CR2032 battery. When I replace it, will it keep all it's settings and memory or am I possibly going to lose something?
