so I love the concept behind this technology, you can walk up to your FX with the key fob in your pocket etc. and the doors will unlock, my question is for the locking aspect. When you walk away from your vehicle with the key fob will the doors lock? or do you need to manually hit lock on the fob? would be neat if intelligent could work both ways, haven't tested it yet, just been hitting "lock" on the fob.. anyone know? thanks!!

welll.......the key works this way:

if you walk up to the FX when it is locked you need to press the black button on the door to unlock it....

to lock it, your FX should lock itself after you are a certain distance away for a certain amount of time (20 feet 40 seconds?) I think its around there.....
however, it does NOT ALWAYS WORK....for me, atleast. sometimes it wont lock itself which is why I usually just press lock myself, which isnt too hard. you can also press the black button on the door to lock the fx.......

or you can just press unlock on the way to the fx and press lock while walking away....

i don't think that the doors automatically lock by distance. there's a setting thru the nav screen where you can have auto-lock on at 30 or 60 seconds. (maybe another option but i never really changed anything). normally, i just push the black button on the doors or the one on the trunk to guarantee that it locks.

Yes, you have to manually press the lock button on the key fob unless you have the auto lock feature activated.

The auto lock feature only kicks in if you unlock your FX and do not open a door. I often walk away and leave my fx unlocked in the garage. It stays unlocked no matter how long or far I've gone. You must manually lock it with the key fob or door buttons.

In my 06+ the menu option is called "Auto Re-Lock".

I don't know if the 03-05 were different in that it would auto lock even after opening a door. Plus if any of you have an aftermarket alarm system installed, they usually are set to auto lock the doors as well.

Yes, that is the same on my 05. There is no auto lock feature programed into the ikey like you see on most of the aftermarket systems.
