Say it with me, arrrrrrrooohhhhaaaa!
Ho brah so I wen do da kine muffler tip and now my kar get mo mana and stay so fas. Facka cherry!
Ok so first off before I get flamed and such. This is a fx35, so I am not looking to buy top brand names (shockwave, fast intentions, etc) parts when it comes to things like the exhaust. $1k for Invidia, sorry but for this car i rather focus on aesthetics. That being said, so many weak threads with people not finishing what they started with the exhaust. I hope this helps people.
Dual tip, rolled walls, heat treated exhaust tip, amazon $37 shipped lol. First time buying this so I only bought one side first. Female connector side is 2.5” ID and the outlets on each tipnis 3.5”. Oem was 4”not 4.5” I think. How long will these tips stay nice, time will tell.
Cutting the exhaust tip, I rented a tail pipe cutter which worked amazing. First time using it and I was shocked. Had a sawzaw but wanted to try the tool and damn it’s a clean cut. The pipe to the muffler tip is 2.5” inner diameter as many probably know.
Welding the dual exhaust tip. So I luckily have a friend (not too many) and he can actually weld for me so I lucked out as I was trying to do this cheap as possible. However, the plan here was to cut slits into the new exhaust tip so that I can clap it on to the cut pipe with an exhaust clamp. I am pretty damn certain this will work. However please see the pic, you can see that there isn’t too much clamping surface space. It’s the pic with the cut pipe with a black sharpie marking.
Next, the black trim needs to be cut to fit. Avoid cutting the front where it’s visible to the eye the most. Dremel is a just. Cut fit cut fit sand cut sand fit sand cut etc till you get it to your liking.
Lastly, the sound. It’s just a tip after the muffler, won’t make any difference is what I thought. Another pleasant surprise, it actually made a difference with more of that classic VQ sound. Shocking.
Second muffler isn’t done yet as again I only ordered one for now. Luckily all went well. Heading to japan in the next couple days so I won’t have an updated pic till later December when I come back. FX kind of just sits in the garage that replaced my old LS460
