Hi, my name is Sue Willis. I just purchased a 2008 Infinity FX35 AWD. I love it. It has a little shudder in transmission when shifting into 2nd gear. I don't know if it is safe to change transmission fluid as it has 167,000 miles and I don't know if fluid has ever been changed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I bought mine at 89k, It had a tiny shudder from 2nd to 3rd, but it wasn't constant, just now and then, never did anything about it, as it wasn't always there. changed tranny, diffs + transfer case fluids at 99k and it felt like transitions were a bit smoother, can't say for sure. nearly 4 years on at 135k shuddering has decreased, can't actually recall when it last shuddered, must be months ago at least, anyway, changing fluids may help, certainly can't do any harm!

Thanks dragonh, just checked it out, sound's good. They also have a tube called "instant shudder fix", thinking about throwing that in first? by the way, that protectant is 10 oz, did you just add that to the existing tranny fluid or wait until you refreshed all the fluid?

I just added it in! Try half bottle first and run about 50 miles and see..Pour the other half in after that..but i just added the full 10 oz bottle..Both ways are fine!
Let me know ur results! Good luck!

Thanks makes me feel better. Just Leary about changing fluid if it hasn't been changed.

How much Kms on your tranny fluid?
I added mine in when fluid was pretty new!
Best is to add with new fresh fluid!
Never tried the shudder fix but after adding the red pro, gears shifted smoother!

Firstly, take out the transmission dipstick and smell if it has a burning smell..If not, check the fluid color, should be a redish light color and not dark brown.
If u have never changed the tranny fluid, do it asap and add 1 bottle of the lubegard and see how it runs!
The fill and drain takes approx 4 or so quarts! Redline D4 is a great aftermarket tranny fluid unless u want OEM which most use but not ness!
You can also remove the transfer case to see if there is any contamination there..Remember..U will need a new oem transfer case gasket and u also would have to wait 3 to 4 hours for the transfer case to cool down before adding fluid or u will damage it! Dont get an aftermarket TC gasket as they are a little off with fitment! Needs to be resealed after u remove the case. Let me know if u need any more help..i am a vendor on here too!
