Infiniti moving away from V8's

I think for Infiniti, this is a great idea to go to Turbo V6's. V8 are great for towing and doing heavy work.... Infiniti is not know at all to do this type of work. The FX platform really can't tow anything heavy at all, even with their V8. The V8 FX50 tows the same as the V6 JX that has 125 LESS HP AND 112 lb-ft LESS TQ!. ONLY car in the lineup that should and propably will keep the V8 is the QX56. It's their workhorse SUV.

2012 FX35 303hp @ 6800rpm 262 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm Towing Capacity - 2000lbs
2012 FX50 390hp @ 6500rpm 360 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm Towing Capacity - 3500lbs

2012 JX 265hp @ 6400rpm 248 lb-ft @4400 rpm Towing Capacity - 3500lbs

2012 QX56 400hp @ 5800rpm 413 lb-ft @4000 rpm Towing Capacity - 8500lbs

I was looking for a 45 when I bought my second FX and they were tough to find around here at a dealer, especially with lower miles. I agree with the stated ratio.
As far as V8's, I heard there is a push for 54mpg cars and 2015 (i think) the Mustang GT may be a 4 cyl ecoboost vs the 5.0 V8. I can now officially saw that they are super thirsty cars, even compared to my 16mpg FX!

Tow capacity is more based on the frame. You should always be able to pull more on a true truck frame vs a uni-body frame. Plus the fx frame was modified 350z, least the first gen was.
