I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So a few years ago I started getting people together to make this possible. Among Infinitis we've had stats on the G, M, and even the EX for some time, but it's been harder getting enough FX owners involved.

The latest update includes an initial result for the 2004 FX based on owner experiences through December 31, 2009. With a repair frequency of 54 repairs per 100 cars per year, it's better than average.

We'll have further updates in May and August. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Good stuff, I remember you doing this on g35driver.
 
Glad you like it. Nearly 1,000 G owners signed up at this point. But they sell a lot more Gs than they do FXs.

Nearly 100 2008 EXs, though. Mostly from NICOclub, which has been a huge supporter.
 
We're about to update results again. For the 2003 and 2005 we're a couple of responses short of the bare minimum--so even a few more participants per year would be very helpful.

Happy to now be linking back to this forum. Updated stats in about a week will include partial results for the 2003 and 2004. The 2005 fell a couple responses short of the bare minimum.

I'd like to provide full results for all years. Just a matter of getting enough owners involved--155 so far.

We have updated results for the FX to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2004: 44, better than average

2003: 95, about average

Very small sample sizes in both cases, so these results might not be accurate.

We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Brake pads and rotors involve too many external variables, so we don't include these in the analysis for the stats. Your participation would certainly helpful, though, whether or not you have other repairs. We received barely enough responses to inclue the 2003, 2004, and 2005 in next month's results.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2005: 70

2004: 86

2003: 100

All are about average. Very small sample sizes in all three cases.

Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.
