Hey all,

I test-drove a 2010 FX37S, and really liked it. Styling-wise, it's the only SUV that floats my boat. Unfortunately, Infiniti has no presence whatsoever in Finland. The closest approved dealership is in Russia, 400km (250mi) away from where I live, and visiting it would actually require a visa.

What are your thoughts on maintaining one such car, depending solely on Nissan dealerships?

As far as I'm aware, the VQ engine is used in many Nissans, but I have no idea what the 7-speed auto-box is. Furthermore, the ATTESA ET-S does not appear to be used in any Nissan model that has been sold in Finland. Spare parts availability may be less than ideal.

a Nissan dealer can do 100% of the maintenance you'd require from a dealership. I've used Nissan dealers in the past for simple maintenance items.

My advice? think twice before buying, Im in the Netherlands, Infiniti dealer= 200km, Nissan dealer= 5km and the manager is a personal friend of mine, simple maintenance is ok but other things can be a big hassle, Nissan gets zero help from Infiniti, no tech help, nothing! Nissan also has no entrance to Infiniti software when they hook the car up on the computer. Some Nissan parts do fit, others don't.......... and Infiniti parts in Europe are sky high! you may as well buy a Porsche. I love my FX, but as far as availability, choice + pricing go's, I'm very jealous of all you guy's over there!

Thanks, I would expect the general maintenance to be alright, but troubleshooting issues might turn into a nightmare.

Thanks! I guess I'm going to have to drop the idea. I have both a parts catalogue software as well as a massive maintenance manual for my current car, and imagining a Nissan dealer having to tackle potential/inevitable issues in the FX without similar resources is really scary.

I did look at Cayennes, but the styling is very bland compared to the FX, and they seem very expensive to maintain.

On the other hand, they're more exclusive over here!

Cayenne's?? not bad, but I would just love a full op's all black Macan!!!:rolleyes: to me, the Macans rear end is a very close 2nd to a first gen FX's rear end, which I think has one of the sexiest ass's on a suv ever! (but beats the FX on full frontal view hand's down)
