Why would it come out as an EX25 and EX35 when the 35 engine is slowly being phased out? Why wouldn't it be an EX37? Will Infiniti/Nissan be keeping the 3.5L motor for such cars like this and the Maxima/Altima, etc.?

I sure as heck hope the FX doesn't keep the 3.5 when the 3.7 will be where the speed craze moves.

Opinions? Insight? I can imagine the EX being a sort of race wagon because it'll be lighter than the FX, not as light as the 350Z/G35, but a definite sleeper.

Also, now that they're moving to the 3.7L motor, 350Z and G35 names won't make sense. I've heard G37 but nothing about 370Z?
 
I think the 3.5 will be around for a while. Maxima, Altima, Murano all use the same block. Heads, cams, and adaptive timing will continue to evolve.
 
Okay, how about the auto tranny? Being a 2.5L, obviously a more economy version, why wouldn't they offer a manual? It would also do well for the 3.5L sportier version.
 
Not sure if they would do AWD CVT for the 2.5 or a 5AT. Aren't all the 2.5s FWD? New Altima 2.5 is running CVT.
 
I hate to say it, but I like the EX a lot. I've been driving a G sedan for the past 4 days and I am hooked on the speed an nimble handling. The EX should be a little closer to G performance while in an updated FX body. Sounds like a good combination.

Now we know, the EX is an EX35 and the FX is a 35. As if i came from the future or something.:rofl:
