Infiniti Announces U.S. Pricing on 2011 FX Performance Luxury SUV

New Coke vs. Original Coke

I know where you are coming from.. Infiniti doesn't advertise their products as much as other brands. But also their new designs are not so " eye catchy". I remember also seeing like 3 comercial about the 1gen FX. But that didn't stop the awesome design from selling.. IMO is a mix of both advertising + design. I mean seriously I think they could have done much better when designing the new FX and the new QX..

I completely agree. It's not the lack of advertising that has stunted sales of the 2nd Gen FX, it's the awful design of the front end. The car is just plain ugly from several angles. And I drive one, so it's not like I'm an outsider making this comment.

They need to make the design less polarizing and sales might pick up again. It's sort of like New Coke vs. the Original. If they were to restyle the next FX with more of the 1st Gen lines, I bet sales would rocket.

If it's so ugly, then why did you buy it? I would never buy a car if I thought it was ugly no matter how good the performance, features, and interior design is. Just a thought.....lol. I'm just wondering though.

He did say that fron several angles it is ugly. I agree, it's one of those cars that changes when you're walking by it (or see it driving on the road). It looks good, then great, then not so good, then WTF is that while you adjust your eyes, then pleasant, then great looking again.

I would buy one and I think the same way as jayrandall.

Here's why

Fair question. But I bought it because I was coming off a lease of an '06 FX35, and I wanted the new model for all of its interior upgrades and tech. And, because Infiniti cars are fantastic, in terms of quality and value compared to BMW, Audi, etc.

I thought that I could get past the front end design choice because the car is really a fantastic drive. But in the 18 months I have driven the car, I still can't find the love for the style of the front fascia.

Power tailgate

I should have waited a few more months and I could have got that extra feature. Too many changes in the car world.
