I'm strongly considering purchasing a higher mileage 06 or 07 M and would love to hear how reliable these vehicles are once they get north of 100k. I realize every vehicle is different and driving habits and maintenance contribute significantly, but in general, are there any chronic problems that seem to emerge as the miles increase?

Also, any key differences/considerations between the 35/45 and std/x models?

Any thoughts you have are appreciated. Thanks in advance
 
More standard features on the M45 and the "X" simply denotes AWD. I would go for the Sport package on either (not available on the X). I cant speak to the reliability of the Y50 (I have the Y34) but mine is solid and the VK45 runs like a top at 130K miles. I also have a VQ35 in my 2007 G35 sedan with 40K and I had one in my 2006 Altima SER with 110K and had no issues. You will see stories of both the VQ and VK burning oil, but it seems a bit sporadic and not a big issues. Most engines burn some oil.
