Hey all,
I've got an awd 2006 FX35 with 53k miles
for the past few months I've been getting this creak/clank/thump/??? noise from the front driver's side corner whenever I go over a bump or an incline (such as a driveway) at an angle. Along with the noise I'd also fell a bump or a thump through the pedal or steering wheel.
I took it to the dealer and they said it was a bad strut mount, so they replaced it under warranty.
On the ride home that day, I noticed the noise was still there. So I called and made a follow-up a week later
Over the next week it actually managed to get worse, not just happening when i was turning into a driveway, but at every bump I hit, even while driving straight.
I took it in yesterday and they looked at it and called me later to tell me the "after-market" brake pads that were on the car were making the noise. I figured they'd done something to them such as out in a shim or lube or SOMETHING and so I went to pick up the car.
On the drive home I noticed the noise again so I assumed they didn't do anything to my evil aftermarket pads. I called them back just now and asked how exactly aftermarket brake pads would cause a clunking noise and he said it was because they were a different material. So I asked him if a front brake job by the dealer would solve the problem and he said yes. Then I asked what would happen if it didn't and he told me that they'd reimburse me.
I'm 100% positive that this noise isn't caused by the pads only because I've been running them on it for over 2 years.
so
what's everyone's take on this?
