I don't remember if he was a driver or one of the guys that worked on design... anyway, she explained to me one time about wheels... she got all "physics" on me... I didn't really understand what she was talking about... except, the part about going bigger wheels will NOT help performance...

285's would not rub unless it has a huge side wall bulge. I would not go with the 285/40 due to the difference in overall oem wheel/tire diameter spec. Either H&R or eibachs will work.
Well let me clarify that your offset would also be a factor on any rubbing issue. But with my +35et I rub with my 305 pirelli's. But if I went with 285's with a relatively small sidewall bulge on my +35et I would not have rubbing issue. FXLR8's +15et is a pretty aggressive offset.
