I Hate the Eisenhower!!! My Broken Fogs

It's a highway here in Chicago; about a month after I bought the car new they decided to resurface the whole thing.. Never did the clearbra because I didn't think I need it.. Now, as you can imagine my front end has a lot of rock chips.. Today was at a bar and a 1st gen graphite parked right behind me; went out to take a pic for the "spotted" thread and there I saw it.... my damn foglight must have collided with a rock on the highway and the front glass is all broken...:mad.: DAMN IT!! Bulb still works, way to go DDM, but the front glass assembly is done..

Two questions:

1. Can I just replace the glass or does the entire foglight need replacement?

2. Should I replace the bulb anyway since it's been exposed to the elements?

Sorry to hear that . Damn road :mad.:

There is no way to repace only glass :-(
Buy whole fog light assembly,maybe try junkyard
About bulb,i would replace it just in case,as if dirt touched bulb then it life would be short
 
You'll need to replace the whole assembly. But you can pick one up on ebay. I bought a set for around $60 a couple of years ago.
 
as for the bulbs i think you should be fine.. If your really worried, maybe try cleaning them off with an alcohol pad
 
Put something from a junkyard into a $60K car?? I don't think so ;)
 
I broke TWO sets of fog lights in the last two years, because of road debris. Now my fog lights have been deleted. No more fogs. Now, both light openings have been made into intake ducts - directing air to the filter and the radiator.

I thought of doing that to accommodate my in-fender filter location but I just can't stand losing the fogs. I settled on eventually trying to find some aftermarket fogs that are smaller in diameter so that I can allow intake air to come in around them, but that project is on the long list... Do you have any duct work on the inside or is it just the open hole?

Duct work. After removing the fog light, the bumper plastic was trimmed to open up the area, then ducted to the filter on the right side. On the left side it is ducted to the intercooler. Both use 90deg silicone bends so you can only see blackness. Photos to come next week.

It was a no brainer for me because the fog lights would not fit once the intercooler was installed. Couldn't have kept them even if I wanted to.
 
I bought Lamin-x and put that on my fogs. Works wonders what a little thin plastic can do.

I can see chips in the lamin-x that preventing chipping of my fog lights. Won't stop a huge stone clearly, but for $10 or so, good investment.

Reminds me of the days when I modified DSM's.. Started out by using the fog light area as a new intake, but ended with a headlight mod (hole in headlight to ram air into intake).

Now that's a good idea.. I hope it's available OTC at the parts stores.
