Thanks for the notes. No pics of the '77 280Z but it remains fresh in my mind. I bought it in 1983 with 44k miles for $4200. It was silver with black interior, completely stock, and beautifully simple. When the owner popped the hood open and I saw the in-line 6 bursting up out of the engine compartment, that's all I needed to see.

You guys got some great looking 45's. At the moment I'd have to lean toward Logan's as the most overall intriguing. But there's plenty of beautiful runner-ups.

I love the 45's design enough that even if it drove like a Dodge Caravan (whatever that would be like), I'd still be proud to own the 45.

I spent about 1 week searching the entire country via eBay, autotrader.com, cars.com, and about 4 other websites for the right combo of price, miles, looks, options, etc. and found about 6 in the 24k -38k miles range. But this one was a 2-owner, no accident FX45 was only 60 miles away at a Nissan dealership and the 20" chrome wheels against the subdued grey color was good enough.

BTW, Last night I learned how to spell "V-D-C O-f-f"

oh, yeah. Now I know why so many of the FX45 for sale had accident issues. (3rd post and counting).
 
Lol, that's awesome! The 45 is a beast indeed, I think I saw that on cars.com and drooled a bit. Been looking into getting a second for the wifey perhaps. Any how welcome and enjoy the scene, nice to have ya here!
 
It's been 9 days since purchase and thoroughly enjoying the FX45. I think Nissan did a fabulous job on the suspension system. Very tight and feel every contour of the road. Last Saturday had the tires checked and all were set to 35 psi when they should have been at 50 psi. That bump only made the ride even better. Took it on a little tour just outside the city limits. Gas mileage is dropping quickly. The FX just wants to go and the engine never seems taxed or overburdened. Surprising for only 315 hp.

I've got a few little quirks going on but nothing too major. The interior light and headlights shutoff when leaving the vehicle/shutting the door. But yesterday, the inside lights stayed on. Rare but quirky. The outside rearview driver's mirror would not go left or right but it would go up and down. Now it goes left and right. Almost seems like a few intentional European quirks.

I'd love to see the FX get about 5 more mpg. But for this price and this body style, etc, this thing is definitely a bit of a sleeper. And I love its somewhat timeless design. I don't want to paint the FX into something it's not but it's a bit of a bad ass no matter which way you look at it. Can't say that about too many vehicles. Maybe I am Batman. :)

^^^ +3 Way too high. Stock pressure is usually 33psi, I always bump mine up to 35psi.

Note: these are cold pressures, check and set your pressures after the car has sat all night, before you drive it.
 
Ok, you guys got me nervous here. My tires are Toyo's 265/50/R20 and say max pressure 50 psi. It's a bit dark in the garage to read the rest. The 35 psi was read cold with only 2 miles of stop'n go driving 35 mph.

What's the max pressure on your tires read on the sidewall?

Soonster is right as rain. Max pressure is a warning for the upper limits of how much you can safely pump your tires to when needed for extra load carrying or towing. For normal everyday driving, use the numbers found on the sticker in your driver's door jamb.
 
What will make a big stability difference is the GT-Spec rear lower brace, the mid ladder and the STB. If you can swing all three at the same time do it, if not just do the rear lower and the STB.
 
Oh, yeah. Gotta' admit I haven't really paid attention to the tire recommendations inside door, perhaps ever. I've always gone by tire sidewall recommendations and max's only. Okay, so I checked tire pressures tonight and they're at 45 psi, not 50 psi.

Soonster, I browsed thru the links you supplied, thanks. Do you happen to know what my greatest risks are running well over mfg'er recommended psi but well under tire mfg'er recommended psi? e.g. separated belts, blow outs, loss of control, etc? Much appreciated.

I tried to install a new KN air filter late tonight. It's a bit more surgery than anticipated so I'll save that for another time. I've read the instructions and it looks like a 2 hour job beginning to end. Could there be a simpler version of what normally is a pretty straightforward task?
 
I know the feeling my 03' FX45 produces a smile a mile for me as well :)

She has been in my garage for many years and to this day I enjoy climbing into the cabin - turning the key - and driving her!

Great find there are some very tasteful MOD's out there for the 45 which will enhance your happiness .........
