I am thinking of wrapping the side mirror covers with CF and i think best way to do it would be to take off the covers and then do it. can anyone please explain how to take the covers off? thnk u

I have the first gen FX and all I did was pry them off with my hands, might be the same with the second gen but not sure.

You might break a tab removing it that way. I would go by removing the mirror by prying up on it from the middle bottom. Do a search for 2nd Gen led install and there should be some info on it.

Start on top of the cap (1e gen.because on the lower side there are hooks that keep it together) and remove with your fingers bit by bit from the middle to left/right then it will come loose.

Thanks that looks great indeed the only thing is there are none available for the 1st generation FX

I've been thinking about wrapping mine too.. My FX is platinum graphite, think it would look awesome on it.. Found a good DIY on a website called carbonmods. Carbon Fibre Skinning under the 'guides' section. I'm new here so cant post a link yet, sorry.

I'm a little nervous to remove my mirror cover too, I inherited a lightly cracked mirror housing from the previous owner and definitely dont want to make it worse.. But with that they cost to replace I'm just going to fix it up with some JB Plastic weld and repaint it.

Would love to see some pics of yours once you wrap them!

Honestly, it's easier to wrap the covers on the car. I've done this and there are a lot of compound curves so you need to stretch the vinyl. It would be very hard to hold a heat gun while at the same time holding the mirror and also the vinyl. Mirror cover is relatively small so it's hard to hold while wrapping (I've done it this way as well)

How has the vinyl wrap held up over time? Hoping the seasonal changes up here in the north wont destroy them..

I wrapped my hood last year (3M vinyl) and it hast changed one bit since it was put on. Vinyl usually holds up for a few years unlike plastidip (I learnt the hard way)
