So I finally found what I think is the correct ECU on car-part to get the right files off of it. The guy sent me the code on the label of his ECU, and I got mine. The only thing is neither of us know for sure if they are the same. I think they are based on the "A1" because my ECU ROM is 8Y71A.

My code is: (EU) "MEC85-320 A1 6Z10"

and his ECU code is: (ET) "MEC85-310 A1 6830"

As you can see they are close but not exactly the same, but I don't know if they even should be the same.

According to UpRev, the label doesn't tell anything. You can plug the ECU into their software, but that's not always the easiest thing to do. The VIN from the vehicle might though. I think it's just a coincidence with the A1.

They have nothing to flash onto there, since there haven't been any ECU updates. And I'm sure as hell not buying an ECU from them.

Did you ever get this figured out, I haven't had to deal with this but I am wondering are you working on a new ECU that you want flashed or your original (not that is completely relevant - just wondering if your FX is parked because of it)? I will ask around to see what I can find out I have some buddies who do a lot of custom work supping up just about anything from sound of it, maybe they will know.

honestly I think I would try to find same year, same options and that ecu should work, even if the numbers aren't exactly the same. of course the options to look for are 35, rwd and weather you have tech or not. to me if it's from a matching vehicle then it should work in yours I would think even if not the same numbers. I thought you found one way back when and didn't want to buy it at that time?

Turns out that you can actually look up the ECU ROM by VIN. The guy at Scottsdale Infiniti did it for me, and when you choose the ECU part the last few digits of the part number is the VIN. I double checked the ECU I mentioned here, and it's a different ROM. When they looked it up, it also showed what options/packages was on that FX. Pretty cool stuff, and I think only the dealer's program can do it. John, you might have something similar? Now I just need to find ECU's and get the VIN from the donor vehicle to get it all figured out I guess.

But yeah, I look for a certain ECU based on year, packages, etc. then narrow it down with the VIN to make sure it's the same ROM.
