How to connect mp3 (non-iPOD) to the Aux?

Hey everybody,

My FX currently has a SAT subscription for little under a year, navi, and 6 cd in-dash changer (no dvd player).

My question is:
1. How do I wire a connection to my mp3 player to my stereo without the interface (I don't need the steering wheel buttons to control the mp3 player, I'd rather just use the mp3 player)?

2. Isn't it just a simple aux wire to the back of the head unit? Is the place where I need to connect to the AUX port in the back of the car or behind the radio?...do I need to take the dash out for any reason?

I use this gromaudio device with mp3 on a USB stick.

It's been working fine. Not sure how it would interface into your setup since you having satellite subscription. Take a look at their support site to see if it can be use with satellite in place.

I was looking more specifically for not an interface where I'd use the steering wheel buttons for control....I want to use my mp3 player to control it.

Anybody have any suggestions of how to go about doing this? I hear it's fairly simple, but need advice.

Perhaps you should look closely at the last pic from the link I refer to above there is "AUX-IN" standard 3.5 mm headphone jack which you plug in any mp3 player. Nothing will prevent you from using the button on your mp3 player.

Here is the quote from GROMAUDIO product description in case you missed it :tongue (2)::
"AUX Input: Aux connection (for any additional audio source such as DVD, MP3 player, XM and more) "

BTW, there is no AUX input on the back to plug an additional source. You will need an adapter to create the additional auxiliary to the OEM head unit.

Ahh. Now I am starting to understand.

So you think my only option is getting an adapter such as this? There is no cheaper 20$-like adapter available? haha

My friend (who doesn't have an FX) was mentioning that many cars have the aux port that you just put a 1/8 wire into...but unfortunately, as you are saying, we don't have that.

Hm...

Thanks for you help la,

In the picture...what goes in the spot that is to the far left of the back of the unit? (looks like a car cigarette lighter). That's not a RCA plug is it?

That's for the antenna input. No RCA input on the back. No cheaper one that I'm aware of.
