I just recently changed all my interior lights (map, dome, etc) to white led lights. I also want to change the small yellow/orange lights that are located by the interior door handles. Does anyone know what bulb is used in this location? and I'm guessing I need to remove the whole panel in order to change it?

its an led . your gonna need to solder it out and replace with another led bulb

The door panel will have to come out, but that's the easy part. I haven't done it, but I've taken my door panel out and IIRC, the light clips in from the back. Once the panel is out, you should be able to just unplug the light and do whatever you need to do. I hate soldering too...

I didnt even know the 1st gen came stock with mood lights in the door handles like 2nd gen. You have any pics? I want to see them.
