Yeah I want to see what members have to say about this bc I have an 08 FX35 and I'm looking at a 09 FX35 with 23k miles. I love how the 09 cam with paddle shifters. But just not sure if I want to go for it. plus it's black on black
Same quality IMO. Had an 05 FX35 from 07-3/11 and 09 FX50 from 3/11-present
My Extended Warranty just expired at the end of 2015.... so, here were my "issues" over the last five years
Only "issues" i've had with my FX50 have been covered under warranty and fixed by dealer:
(in order of occurrence, as far as I remember. I do not think there were many more but I am picky and if something was up I tried to get it fixed)
0) OEM 21" wheels had pitting around center caps, had the whole set of wheels replaced under warranty.
1) Side mirrors shake at highway speed (known issue) ; Fixed by dealer under warranty
2) Transmission reflash TSB due to "searching" and some rough shifts at low speeds ; Fixed by dealer under warranty
3) "D/DS/+-" sensor on my shifter went out. Would go into D but not over to DS/+- ; from "aggressive shifting to DS"; Fixed by dealer under warranty.
4) Front OEM AERO lip fell off of car while driving at speed - Dealer replaced and installed under warranty (they installed it initially)
5) Axles needed to be lubricated due to "noise" when engaging gear at low speed - done by dealer under warranty
6) Part of my cooling system on the front of the engine had a pinhole leak, I think the 'water outlet gasket"- due to the cold buffalo temps apparently.. Under warranty
7) TSB Steering column, done by dealer and covered by warranty (with 3 free alignments afterwards because they didn't get it right the first times)
8) Sunroof moving much more slowly, motor replaced by dealer under warranty
8) Center console cupholder folding wood cover won't stay closed, $2 plastic part broke, covered under warranty and will be put in by dealer.
I think that is all. The Cupholder piece just came in.
Other than those warranty items, the FX50 has really been a solid car. I take care of it, meticulously maintain it, keep it clean, but also drive it like the sports-focused crossover it was meant to be. Even with my playing around with the exhaust tuning etc. I have not had any issues.
Only thing that comes up is in the dead cold winter, I'm talking 20deg and below, the battery seems to die quickly and needs a slight jump just for the V8 to turn over. I had the dealer go over the entire battery system, alternator, test for parasitic draw, etc. etc. they had the car for days. No issues came up. I've been through the original infiniti battery and 2 duralast batteries since 2011. (i'm on the 2nd duralast) The Buffalo winters are what got to me the most, as far as issues like surface rust on the undercarriage, the battery being dead multiple times, the cooling gasket leak, and I'm guessing the axles needing to be lubricated also have something to do with 2 winters in Buffalo.
other than that, I truly do love this car and despite wanting to sell it to the right future buyer, I will gladly keep it til it dies.
Just hit 55k miles.....
