How often should I replace the front and rear wipers? They've been on there for about 10 months but I never replaced them. I figured there was not point in replacing them because I only take the car out about 1 time a week, otherwise it sits most of the time. And when I do take the FX out, I barely use the wipers.

But I did notice that the wipers are starting to miss spots and occasionally make squeaky noises when going across the windshield. That just started recently with the below freezing weather.

Average person replaces them once a year. I replace them when vision is impaired during the rain. Depends on how much you can stand, but i always try to use them until they almost completely streak.

fwiw OEM is also my favorite wiper

Change them out when you are no longer satisfied they are doing the job they are supposed to. I wouldn't change mine out just because a certain amount of time had passed, if they still worked properly. Luckily it's a pretty low dollar item.

Mine have been on for about 18 months and honestly they still work fine. I rarely use them, maybe thats why. as soon as they will not do a good job, I replace them, not before.
I do clean the wiper blades occasionally and check the condition of the rubber.

Thanks for the tips guys! I guess I should replace them then, because sometimes they make chattering noises too.

I don't like any of those new wiper blade designs. They're a waste of money because they don't flex as much as the originals especially on the passenger side. Secondly they always tell you to use something like rain-x on the windshield after you install them to get rid of the chatter and re-apply every so often. So overall, not only are they overpriced but you have to maintain them.

In the end, it takes one nic in the edge to cause streaks and the entire blade needs to be replaced.

What I do is buy the refills at an auto store. Here in Canada we have Canadian Tire. For two refills that you can cut to size is around $5. They work the same if not better than OEM. Obviously over time the actual entire blade will need changing due to corrosion. I just end up buying the whole blade for $4 each, $8 max. Stealership overcharges for some soo simple.

I replace them when they start streaking badly.

I have the Bosch Icons and think they work really well. I've had them for over a year and they still perform well, no streaks, no chattering.

I did replace the wipers on my old FX with oem ones from the dealer and they didn't last too long for me.

depending where you live, i would change them according to the weather. I was told that, living in hot weather city will dry out the wipers faster thus, you need to replace them once a year vs. living in wet city where you might replace your wipers every 1.5 years.

If you are looking for great wipers, I would highly recommend the PIAA.

I wait until the performance begins to suffer before I think about changing them. I've been buying the Valeo frameless type from amazon whenever I see that they have a BOGO free deal.

I just bought OEM front left front right front and rear wipers for < $40 through infinitiusaparts.
